Are There Any Foods That Can Help With Mental Health?

- User Submitted

Are there any foods that help my child with their mental health, doing a lot of research myself, but would love your opinion? Yeah, so I read a book titled Brain Energy. And, and again, there's a lot of different philosophies, a lot of different theories, but, uh, there are certain diets that may not be as good for us. Uh, high carbs certain, again, everybody's body digests things in a different way. So what may be healthy for, or an okay for one person, another person can't. So it's really hard to say. One answer fits all people. Some people do really well with red meats and just meats. Some people that overwhelms 'em and gives them heart attacks and strokes. Other people they can eat with almost whatever they want, never gain weight. And other people, they eat, you know, a, a piece of bread and they wake up the next morning feeling bloated and over, you know, and I don't feel healthy. Me personally, I have to be gluten-free right now. It, it, it's not an easy thing. Are there healthier diets? Yes. We've known this for years. Fruits and vegetables, right? Reducing sugar intake. That's really hard to do today, especially when you have fri high fructose corn syrup. So I think it's being intentional, right? I mean, if we look at sodas, we look at the types of things with lots of sugar. I mean, obviously those things are not as healthy for us. But nutrition, when you go to the nutrition pyramid, what may be for one person may not be exactly for the other, but there are general themes, vegetables. Yeah. I think, I don't know too many people that are voting vegetables down, right? Maybe not that I don't wanna eat 'em, but for health. Yeah. But even there, let me give you an example. I went to a doctor and I, I, every time I went my, one of my favorite meals was going to Sizzler, getting a steak. And, and for the side I would have some broccoli. Every time I did that, my side absolute pain, I couldn't sleep on my right side. So I went to this nutritionist and he said, Hey, it's just so you know, when that happens, the broccoli is creating some toxins and your body's not processing the toxins. If you have broccoli like that, if your body's not gonna digest it, you need to find another vegetable. So to answer this person's question, you have to know your own body. You have to understand self well enough to say, these foods work. I can't have dairy products. I have almond milk, so dark chocolate's my best friend, right? So anyway, my, my point is you have to learn where your body is and that's self attunement. And so I, I can't be specific. I would say if you look at the nutritional facts, we all need more. We all need more vegetables, we all need more fiber. That's statistically a reality. We need to make sure that we're, uh, having a good balance. But periodically, if you wanna really do this, do some blood work just to see where your hormones are, where your, the vitamins are in your body, I would strongly suggest doing that. So you're attuned to self.
