Why Do Children Self Harm?

- User Submitted

Now we're gonna go back to the concept of anxiety on this. I would just generally say cutting is a way, and we now understand enough research to say that it gives people a chemical high. There's a temporary part of, I get a chemical high, an intensity that can be emotionally rewarding temporarily. And, and so when I'm feeling anxious internally inside my body, there are times where people will cut themself or hurt themself in some way because they're, they're feeling so much anxiety. That's why it's so critical for us to help us, um, to help our children learn how to regulate difficult emotions.
